Can I ask you a question? Did you know that voiceover scripts are loaded with questions? Do you know how to pose a question? Do you know how to pose a question when the words aren't your own?Do you know how to do it on mic? Do you want to explore this topic further?
Did you, uh, enjoy the intro? Yeah? Okay. I’ll stop.
Alright, what are we talking about today?
It is naturally posing questions.
Voiceover scripts are loaded with them. It’s actually a really old-school tactic to start a commercial with a question—but it still kind of lingers and rears its head even today. We see it a lot.
Why it's hard
Being able to ask a question as if it's your own—very naturally, very off the cuff, and very believably—is really a lot harder than most people realize.
It's actually one of those telltale signs in a performance of whether or not somebody is fairly new. Because their question will either be asked in a very strange way, or it’ll be a little off, or they won’t give an appropriate amount of pause.
So you have to take some time to really think about and study that asking process. Because even a rhetorical question—right, when we don’t expect an answer to it—still sounds like a question.
Think about it. How many times a day—maybe at work, right—you pass people:“Hey, how’s it going?”You still pause—Whether or not they’re going to answer. It might be for a shorter amount of time—
Practice
But still—practice this. Spend some time with it. It’s something that most beginners don’t give nearly enough attention to. And there are all sorts of acting exercises that you can utilize to help you in this process.
It’s a really, really essential skill to practice if you want to up your voiceover game.
Now, um—certainly I have a lot of tips and tricks like this on my channel and throughout, uh, my website and really all the different things that I do.
But if you aren’t sure where you stand in the asking of questions—and you’re looking for some feedback or you want some one-on-one time to kind of start—

Hi there, I came across this while searching for casino games with perks for Africa-based players. I struggled at first with a losing streak but raised the stakes on plinko game and scored a big payout that made it all worthwhile. That win got me hooked, and now it’s my favorite go-to game.
