Many voice actors forget to practice this one important technique.

There is a lot to remember when you're starting your VO career. But, one this one thing is often overlooked when learning.

You’ve got to use everything you have when you’re a voice actor.

Hey guys, it's Gabby! Welcome to another edition of The Gift of Gab.

I’ve got some ideas for you today on something I talk about a lot: how you have to move your whole body—you’ve got to use everything you have when you’re a voice actor.

But there’s another really interesting thing about the movement component of what we do. I’ve talked before about how a lot of voice actors, almost in a weird way, kind of look like they’re dancing when they’re reading a script—because they never stop moving. They’re always keeping their body in motion.

So if you’re new to voiceover, you really, really, really have to practice reading while moving. Because—well, basically—your eyeballs are never in the same place. Your copy becomes a moving target.

Even though it’s stationary, you are constantly moving around. And this is especially important for things like animation, video games, and even sometimes audiobooks or certain commercial work. The more animated you have to be, the more likely it is you’re going to lose your spot.

Now, I’ve been doing this for so long that it’s not even something I think about very often—because I’m just used to it. My eyes are just used to constantly tracking the words and knowing where they need to be next.

But for someone who’s really new, that can be an easy way to lose your place, and it can be frustrating.

So—something to practice. Practice it with both physical copy (like a printout) and on a screen if you’ve got digital capability inside your booth. Because they’re kind of different. And it’s something you’ve got to get used to.

Keep moving. Literally. Keep practicing. And make sure you’re not afraid to move on-mic, right?

What’s the worst that happens?

“Oh no, I tapped the microphone!”

Okay, I guess I’ll just do that line again.

You’ll be okay. You’ve got this—trust me.

Online law classes can be extremely important for students in today's times. If students do not get adequate coaching, they find it difficult to balance their career and social life along with the multiple online study requirements. Students are often unaware that they need adequate time and planning to succeed in online studies, even if it seems better than a traditional law college degree. As a law student in college, you will have to complete a lot of work outside of the classroom. You may have to take some classes online as well. Do your homework on time if you want to get better grades. Since you have to learn about many different things, it may be difficult for you…
